Designer & Curated Collections

Eyewear, curated for you.

U Optical curates designer and budget-friendly collections at every price tier. Every fitting is delivered by a licensed optometrist or experienced optician, never a commission-based salesperson — the recommendation you walk out with is the one your eyes and lifestyle actually need.

Designer & Premium Brands

U Optical carries more than 50 designer and curated collections, including Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, Ray-Ban, Tom Ford, and rotating premium collections that reflect the latest in eyewear design. Whether you’re seeking classic style, modern minimalism, or bold fashion, our collection spans every aesthetic and price range.

Quality at Every Price Tier

Quality eyewear doesn’t require a premium price tag. Our optometrists recommend based on durability, fit, and lifestyle fit — not cost. Whether you’re choosing from our accessible collections or our premium designer range, every frame we dispense meets our standards for craftsmanship and longevity.

What Makes a U Optical Fitting Different

A proper frame fit is invisible — you don’t think about it because it’s perfect. Our fittings include precise pupillary distance measurement (PD), lens height calibration for progressive lenses, frame adjustment for comfort and alignment, and free follow-up tweaks within 30 days. You’ll walk out knowing your frame works as well as it looks.

Not sure about frames and glasses? We have options.

If you’ve outgrown the frame-and-glasses cycle, our U Eye Laser Cosmetic team offers free laser vision consultations. Explore whether LASIK, SMILE, or ICL might be right for you.

Lens Options

Lenses tailored to how you live.

Modern lens technology can correct vision and reduce eye strain at the same time. Our optometrists discuss your visual demands — screen time, driving, sports, low light — and recommend the lens technology that matches your life.

Single Vision

Clear vision for distance or near. Ideal for younger patients, or if you primarily need correction for one distance (like computer work or driving). Simple, effective, and affordable.

Progressive (Multifocal)

Distance + intermediate + near in one lens, with no visible line. Progressives adjust seamlessly as your eyes move, offering natural vision across all distances throughout your day.

Blue Light Filtering

For screen-heavy users, blue light filtering reduces glare and eye strain during digital work. Available as an add-on to any lens type; helpful for long days at the computer.

Photochromic / Transitions

Automatic tinting outdoors, clear indoors. One pair of glasses handles both indoor and outdoor vision, eliminating the need for separate prescription sunglasses. Convenient and versatile.

Anti-Reflective Coating

Reduces glare on your lenses and reflections in your eyes. Improves clarity day and night, and makes your glasses nearly invisible in photos. A subtle upgrade with measurable impact.

High-Index Lenses

For stronger prescriptions, high-index material means thinner, lighter lenses without sacrificing clarity. Ideal if you prefer a lighter frame or want a more cosmetically refined look.

Prescription Sunglasses

UV protection + your prescription in one lens. Ideal for driving, outdoor sports, or any time you want your vision corrected while protecting your eyes from the sun.

Sports & Safety

Eyewear that keeps up.

Whether it’s a workplace requirement or a sport you love, your eyewear should protect as well as correct. We fit CSA-approved safety frames, sport-specific protective eyewear, and polarized prescription sunglasses for any active life.

CSA-Approved Safety Glasses

Workplace-compliant, prescription-ready protection. Built to meet Canadian Safety Association standards for impact resistance and optical clarity in demanding environments.

Sport-Specific Eyewear

Secure fit for cycling, swimming, racquet sports, basketball, and beyond. Designed to stay in place during movement and protect against impact and UV exposure.

Polarized Prescription Sunglasses

Driving, outdoor sports, lake or snow glare — polarized lenses cut reflective glare while your prescription keeps your vision sharp. One pair, maximum protection.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

We accept most major Canadian vision insurance plans — Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, Blue Cross, Equitable Life, Desjardins, and many others. Bring your benefits card or insurance details to your visit and we’ll process the claim directly where possible. If your plan doesn’t allow direct billing, we provide an itemised receipt for you to submit. Coverage limits, frame allowances, and lens-coating restrictions vary by plan — we’ll check what’s covered before any work begins so there are no surprises.

Standard single-vision and progressive lenses typically take 7–10 business days from order to pickup. Specialty lenses (high-index for stronger prescriptions, premium progressive designs, polarised prescription sunglasses, or coated specialty options) take 10–14 business days. Once your lenses arrive, we fit and adjust the frames in person and verify the prescription before you leave. If you need glasses urgently — for travel or replacing a broken pair — ask about expedited options at the time of order.

Yes — we can fit lenses into frames you already own, including frames purchased elsewhere or sentimental favourites. Bring the frames in for a fit assessment first; we’ll check that they’re structurally sound, that the lens shape suits your prescription, and that the bridge and temples align correctly. Some frames (very thin metal, very small lens shapes, or older damaged frames) may not work with strong prescriptions or progressive designs — we’ll tell you up front before we start.

Honestly: it depends. The current research doesn’t strongly support blue light lenses preventing long-term retinal damage from screens, despite popular claims. What blue light coatings can do is reduce visual fatigue and improve sleep quality for heavy evening screen users by filtering shorter wavelengths that suppress melatonin. If you spend 6+ hours daily on screens or notice eye strain at night, they’re a reasonable add-on. If you don’t — standard anti-reflective coating delivers most of the comfort benefit. We’ll discuss whether they’re worth the cost for your specific routine, not push them by default.

Yes — complimentary adjustments are part of caring for your glasses. Bring them in for nose-pad replacement, temple tightening, frame alignment, or screw replacement. We adjust glasses purchased from us at no charge for the life of the frames. For glasses purchased elsewhere, simple adjustments are also available. Major repairs (broken frames, damaged hinges, replacement parts for discontinued frames) may require a quote or sometimes new frames — we’ll always show you the options before any work or charges.

Bifocals have a visible line in the lens separating the distance prescription (top) from the reading prescription (bottom) — two distinct zones. Progressives use a smooth gradient from distance at the top, through intermediate (computer/dashboard distance) in the middle, to near at the bottom — no visible line, no abrupt jump. Most patients today choose progressives because they’re cosmetically modern and provide intermediate vision (which bifocals miss). Bifocals are simpler optics and adapt to faster, but they leave a gap at arm’s length. Our optometrists will recommend the lens type that matches your visual demands and adaptation history.
