Our Commitment to Accessibility
U Optical is committed to providing an accessible website and services for all patients, visitors, and members of our community. As part of U Vision Group, Ontario’s most comprehensive eye care family, we strive to meet or exceed the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
We believe that every patient deserves equal access to information about their eye health, eyewear options, and the services available to them, regardless of ability.
What We Are Doing
We are actively working to ensure our website and digital communications meet accessibility standards. Our efforts include:
- Designing pages with clear structure, descriptive headings, and logical navigation
- Providing alternative text descriptions for images
- Ensuring sufficient colour contrast between text and backgrounds
- Supporting keyboard navigation throughout the site
- Using clear, plain language to describe optometric procedures and services
- Ensuring forms and interactive elements are accessible to assistive technologies
- Regularly reviewing and improving our website’s accessibility
Accessible Facilities
Our clinic locations in Vaughan and Scarborough are designed to accommodate patients with disabilities. Accessible features include wheelchair-accessible entrances, examination rooms and dispensing areas equipped for patients with mobility challenges, and staff trained in providing assistance to patients with diverse needs, including low-vision care.
