About U Optical
Optometry-led. Family-connected.
U Optical is an optometry-led eye care practice and eyewear dispensary with two clinics across the Greater Toronto Area. Every exam and every fitting is delivered by a licensed optometrist, and when your care extends beyond optometry, our place inside the U Vision Group family connects you directly to the right specialist.

Our Story
Optometry and eyewear, in concert.
U Optical is a clinician-led optometry practice that happens to dispense beautiful eyewear — not a frame retailer that happens to have an optometrist on staff. Every comprehensive eye exam, every prescription, every fitting comes from a licensed optometrist. Our team doesn’t work on commission, and the recommendation you walk out with is the one your eyes actually needed.
U Optical sits within U Vision Group — one of Ontario’s most comprehensive eye-care families. When your care extends beyond optometry, your place inside the UVG specialist network connects you directly to the right team: surgical ophthalmology at Uptown Eye Specialists, advanced dry eye treatment at U Dry Eye Institute, laser vision correction at U Eye Laser Cosmetic, accredited surgical care at U Surgical Centre. No external referrals. No starting over. No re-explaining your history.
Our care follows you across your life — from a child’s first eye exam at 6 months, through prescription updates and frame refits, to coordinated optical follow-up after cataract surgery or laser correction elsewhere in the UVG family. The integration is invisible by design; your records, your retinal images, and your refractive history move with you.
Annual eye exams are fully OHIP-covered for children to age 19 and adults 65+.
Bring your health card — no copay, no deductible. Adults 20–64 with qualifying medical conditions (diabetes, glaucoma, retinal disease, certain prescribed medications) are also covered. We can direct-bill most extended-health plans (Manulife, Sun Life, Canada Life, Green Shield, Blue Cross, and others).
Optometrists
The optometrists behind every fitting.
Our team is six licensed optometrists working across both clinics. Each provides comprehensive primary eye care — eye exams from age six months, contact lens fittings, vision therapy assessments, and ongoing patient management. When a finding falls outside routine optometry, our team coordinates the next step within the UVG specialist network.
